Silverstone, lights out. Charles starts second, next to Kimi Antonelli, on a track where he has never won. The gap to his last victory is 624 days, Austin 2024, and everyone in the garage knows the number.
Turn one. He brakes later than the Mercedes, holds the outside line through Abbey and comes out of Farm in the lead. It is the only pass of his race, and the only one that matters.
What follows is control: tyre temperatures, pit windows, the radio kept short. Antonelli's car fails mid-race. Russell and Hamilton close in during the last stint, then a Safety Car freezes the order with four laps to go.
He crosses the line under yellow, at cruising speed, for the ninth win of his career and the first at Silverstone. On the radio, three words, and then nothing. Onto the next one.
Result: 1st, Leclerc · 2nd, Russell · 3rd, Hamilton. Points after round 9: 116.
